It has been awhile since I have done an MDS Monday (My Digital Studio), as I have been making cards like crazy with the launch of the new catalog, but today’s MDS Monday is packed full of exciting new content- even though it isn’t Monday.
My Digital Studio is a downloadable design software that incorporates Stampin’ Up!’s stamp images, designer paper and pre-made templates for everything from scrapbook pages to card to party decorations and printable home decor. I mainly use MDS for party styling. Anytime I host, throw or attend a party (of any kind!) I make decorations, invitations, or favors to coordinate. I just can’t help myself! I love parties and party planning. I love weddings, baby showers, birthday parties and more! They just make me happy and give me an excuse to be creative and make new, fun decor.
Recently, I attended a baby shower. And the first thing I did was ask the wonderful hostesses if there was anything I could do to help. Planning parties can be tiring when you have a full time job and family; it doesn’t leave much time for planning. They were sweet enough to enlist my help, for which I was delighted.
My job was to make printables to frame, favors bags, and a few games- all in the theme of an English Tea Party- think floral and ivy. I immediately thought- Garden Green & Blushing Bride with a little Calypso Coral thrown in the mix, you know- Tea for Two DSP from last year’s catalog. Here is what I came up with.
Card Box and handmade thank you Notes.
I put out envelopes and asked guests to address one to themselves so that the Mother to Be could easily send out notes.
I also made a little Mad Lib with My Digital Studio. It contained advice for the parents to be.
Oh party favors are my favorite! I am in love with the mini Muslin bags (132180) that come in a pack of 8 bags for $9.95. I added Tea Lacy Doilies (129399) with a Garden Green Deco frame lit layered on top. I added tea cups from the retired set Morning Cup, that are colored in with an aqua painter. I stamped the Thank you tag from Tea Party on Strawberry Slush in Strawberry Slush ink. The favor is topped off with gold sequins, and chevron ribbon hanging from the top. The bags are stamped with alternating dots of Blushing Bride and Garden Green ink that was applied with sponge daubers. Are they adorable or what!??
Here is the Keep Calm sign, all set up.
And no baby shower is complete without a scrapbook as a gift. It is the new Project Life mini album that was complete with the Little Moments card collection pack of journaling cards. The coordinating colors are Pistachio Pudding, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand, So Saffron, so they are neutral for both a boy, girl or surprise baby gift. They have cards for baby’s firsts, birth stats- height, weight, birth date, time, first foods, first tooth, first bath, bringing baby home, and much, much more. I went ahead and added half of the cards in a somewhat chronological order to the album leaving spots for the parents to add photos of the new baby.
If you are looking for a simple, but meaningful gift for a baby shower, making a Project Life album for the Momma is the perfect solution. It is handmade and heartfelt, and it is a simple way that won’t require a lot of time for the parents to add those precious photos that they will take to the album to preserve their first memories with baby forever.
This mini album is decorated with a journaling card, and baby shoes from ‘Baby, We’ve Grown’ stamped and colored with a blender pen. It is finished off with a safety pin with Pistachio Pudding ruffled ribbon and Blushing Bride Chevron Ribbon.
I used MDS to make a quick ‘Late Night Diapers’ sign attached to a basket with diapers that had funny, cute or inspirational messages written on them for the parents to enjoy during those innumerable diaper changes.
I also made a Baby Date Calendar for guests to stamp baby feet on the date when they thought baby would arrive. I am excited to see who had the closest guess!
Didn’t this baby shower ensemble turn out cute? I am tickled pink with how well everything came together. Leave a comment about your favorite part of baby showers or your favorite craft from above! Will you use these ideas next time you have a baby shower to attend?
