How To Address Christmas Cards

Sharing is caring!

The Christmas season is fast approaching and with it comes the task of addressing all of those cards! Here are a few tips to make the process a little less daunting.

How to Address Christmas Cards with Names

1. Buy cards early while the picking is still good

If you are ordering photo cards or choosing cards from the store, start looking in November when the inventory is still good. If you wait too long, they will be picked over (ask me how I know).

2. Start collecting addresses now

It’s time to update addresses, reach out to anyone on Facebook who you aren’t sure you have the most recent address and add it to your rolodex.

3. Begin addressing envelopes in November before your hand gets tired

You don’t have to write the fluffy and wishes yet, but start addressing the envelopes now so that you can pace yourself. (I’ve bought cards and been too exhausted to get them out in time).

4. Book that photo session soon!

If you love a family photo card, make sure you have a session booked so that your photos are back in time to add to this year’s card!

5. Use these grammar rules! No Apostrophe Needed.

And the biggest question of them all is How do you address Christmas cards?

Do you need an apostrophe? No! You’ll never need an apostrophe for your Christmas card name line.

Remember if the last name ends with S X Z CH or SH, add -ES. If it ends with anything else, just add an S.

Use this handy graphic to help you remember. Pin it for later & share it with everyone on Facebook so that they don’t make a fool of themselves this year. Happy Addressing!
