FREE PRINTABLE ADVENT SCRIPTURE CALENDAR
I’m so excited to be able to share this DIY Advent Scripture Calendar with you today. It’s a great way to get creative with your kids, while teaching them about scripture and how to study the Bible.
We have enjoyed printing out these 25 scripture cards, one for each day in December, and decorating them together. After we finish decorating the cards, we attach them to fresh garland on the mantle with clothespins or clips.
This tradition first started in 2016, when I made a mini December scrapbook with pages each day to document how we celebrate the Christmas season. While planning out the pages and activities, I knew it needed something biblical along with the fun traditions.
So, I added the printable scripture cards to each day which paved the way for us to spend time together each morning or evening pulling a card and reading the scriptures that lead up to the birth of Christ!
Why We Focus on Advent
Advent means ‘Coming’ in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. So for the month of December, we focus daily on a scripture reading leading up to the birth of Jesus.
For us, it’s a way to sit down and take a few intentional moments to talk with our little ones about Christ and God’s love for them. And because we love a DIY project, this advent printable allows us to use creatively expression in decorating each advent scripture card.

- Print out the advent scripture calendar on white cardstock.
- Trim each daily card to 3″ x 4″.
- Decorate the back of each card by coloring, glitter, or ribbon. I like to number them as part of the decoration (so you can easily keep them in order).
